Customs Notice No. (04/2023): Dubai Customs introduced a recent regulatory update on customs clearance in Dubai, UAE, on April 14, 2023. On this day, it issued Customs Notice No. (04/2023), and revised the timeline for the physical submission of the hard copies of the customs declaration and supporting documents to 30 days after the initial online filing.
Before, document submission related to import and export customs clearance in Dubai, UAE, was done following Customs Notice No. (01/2018). This regulation, which took effect on September 1, 2018, required traders to submit hard copies of needed documents within 14 days of online submission of customs declarations. The new Customs Notice No. (04/2023) took effect on April 24, 2023.
As per the new regulation, importers and exporters should submit the supporting documents and customs declaration within 30 days of its initial filing. On failing to submit the documents within this period, a trader would be fined AED 5 per day. The total fine amount can go up to AED 300.
However, if you have filed your customs declarations between March 29, 2020, and September 26, 2022, and have not submitted the documents in hardcopy, you will not be charged. Such traders should submit their customs declaration within 90 days of the enforcement of the notice.
